Conn's syndrome is caused by either adrenal hyperplasia or an adrenal tumour, the majority of which are small adenomas. Scan (b) shows a normal right adrenal gland for comparison. The short adrenal body is situated immediately posterior to the IVC. It divides into two parallel limbs which lie between the liver and the right crus of the diaphragm.
